It was a day out for the fur-children on Sunday, October 6, as animal rescue organisation Paws-a-While hosted an event on the Sea Point promenade to raise awareness about pet homelessness.
The event included rescue dog shows, dog yoga, pet expos, as well as opportunities to connect with dogs needing to be adopted.
The event was held during World Animal Welfare Week, held from Thursday October 3 to Wednesday October 9.
Pet homelessness is a significant issue worldwide, said Suraya Hamdulay, corporate affairs director in Sub-Saharan Africa at pet food distributor, Mars.
“We are committed to working with community organisations like Paws-a-While to address this issue and help expand the number of pets with access to the care they need.”
Founder and executive director of Paws-a-While Carolyn Dudgeon said: “We are thrilled to partner with Mars to make a positive impact in the lives of animals in need.”
