MTN is committed to enhancing connectivity in South Africa, empowering communities with access to education, healthcare, and economic opportunities. With a national investment exceeding R10 billion in network and IT infrastructure, MTN is advancing its network to improve coverage and reliability across the Western Cape.
With network availability consistently above 99.5%, MTN has modernised nearly 1 400 sites nationwide, with close to 630 5G and 1 740 4G sites now active. These advancements support the region’s growing demand for data and voice services, ensuring residents and commuters can stay connected seamlessly.
MTN has been recognised as the “Best Network in South Africa” by both the Q3 2024 Broadband Mobile Network Quality Report and umlaut’s “Best In Test” certification, reflecting the quality and reliability of its services. In the Western Cape, MTN’s expansion focuses on key areas, including Bellville, Khayelitsha, Gugulethu, and Delft, bringing enhanced speed and reliability to historically underserved communities.
Through grassroots partnerships with organisations in Khayelitsha, Gugulethu, and other local areas, MTN is addressing community needs such as digital literacy and job training, helping residents leverage the benefits of digital connectivity.
Our goal is to provide all Capetonians with exceptional network quality, whether they’re at home, in transit, or at work. MTN also prioritises security around its infrastructure, encouraging residents to report any suspicious activity by calling 083 123 7867 or emailing anonymous@tipoffs.com
With ongoing infrastructure investment and community collaboration, MTN is building a more connected and resilient Western Cape. Together, we’re bridging the digital divide and empowering South Africa for a brighter future.
