Tom Eaton launches book

Karen Watkins|Published

Constantia author, screenwriter and columnist, Tom Eaton, launched An Act of Murder at the Book Lounge on Thursday April 10.

Cosy crime is how independent bookshop owner, Mervyn Sloman intoduced the thriller.

Journalist, author, podcaster and media trainer, Jonathan Ancer elaborated, saying cosy crime is a genre of mystery fiction. It refers to a type of detective novel that focuses on a likeable hero, quirky characters and little to no blood, gore or graphic sex and never animal killings.

According to Eaton, the story begins with struggling actor and laughable loser, Arnold Prinsloo. His career has hit rock bottom, he’s about to be evicted from his cottage in Melville and worst of all, Zelda, the love of his life, has finally run out of patience and left him.

Not giving away any spoilers, Ancer said the tense action-packed whodunit includes a (slow) car chase; laugh out loud moments, super turn of phrase, a Doberman and an unlikely killer. Keep a lookout for the review.
