South Africa’s doyenne of the theatre, Sandra Prinsloo, will open the Kultura Festival on Friday June 20 with her one-woman show, Kamphoer - die verhaal van Susan Nell.

Seven top performances will perform at several curated events during the week-long launch of the Kultura Festival – the first cultural festival in Cape Town’s northern suburbs.
From Friday June 20 to Friday June 27, at Curro Durbanville High School, there will be music, stories, food and wine for a celebration of Afrikaans and Durbanville's history, heritage and culture.

This performance delves into the harrowing story of Susan Nell, a survivor of the Anglo- Boer War’s atrocities.
Under the expert direction of Lara Foot, the play portrays resilience and confrontation with past trauma, and the power of the human spirit.
Marion Holm will then perform in the first of three productions on Saturday June 21 in her latest one-woman show, Marion Monroe. Co-written with Chris Vorster, the production explores identity and self-perception.
Other performers during the week, will include comedians Marc Lottering and Barry Hilton, musician Zanne Stapelberg accompanied by the Cape Town Philharmonic Youth Orchestra, Afrikaans rapper Early B together with DJ Justin Vega and the three best high school bands will take the stage during The Band Battle concert on Friday June 27.
Rock legend Francois van Coke will not only act as the main judge but heand his band, will also take the stage as the evening’s guest artists after the school bands.
Guests attending productions during the weekend, of June 20 to June 22, will have an opportunity to taste the best wines from the Durbanville Wine Valley as well as the Van Loveren family vineyards, along with fine biltong and olives from Cape Deli.
