Five-time Grammy Award-winning group Ladysmith Black Mambazo will celebrate their 65th anniversary with a special concert series at Artscape from Friday October 10 to Sunday October 12.
The performances form part of the group’s national tour and will feature their signature harmonies, storytelling and songs that aim to promote unity, love and hope.
Sharing the stage with them will be Abantakwethu, a Gugulethu-based cultural music group discovered through Ladysmith Black Mambazo’s talent development project.
The group last performed at Artscape in 2023 to sold-out audiences, and organisers expect this year’s concerts to be another highlight in their long career.
Formed in 1960, Ladysmith Black Mambazo has become one of Africa’s most celebrated musical groups, collaborating with international stars including Paul Simon, Stevie Wonder, Dolly Parton and Michael Jackson.
