Christmas cheer for Tygerberg Hospital Children’s Trust

Staff Reporter|Published

During mid-December the West Coast Cluster of Rotary E-Clubs donated wheelchairs to Tygerberg Hospital Children’s Trust. They brought in the “Wheelchairs for Change” as a container load and asked the Rotary Club of Table Bay to help them distribute the wheelchairs to children and adults in need. Rotary Club of Table Bay Wilbur Van Niekerk said the wheelchairs would be donated to paediatric wards and the adult wheelchairs will be used for mums in the obstetrics and gynaecology wards.

Earlier this month, Champions For Children sprinkled Christmas cheer on pupils at Tygerberg Hospital School who were treated to an early surprise by Father Christmas, spearheaded by the Champions For Children. They had collected Christmas gifts of toys and wrapped them to hand to pupils at Tygerberg Hospital School who are patients at the paediatric units at the hospital.

The children were delighted and excited with the toys. The yellow and green Proteas T-shirts they are wearing were donated by Grootbos Foundation.
The hand knitted teddy bears were donated by the Cape Town Catholic Women’s League.
In keeping with the Christmas spirit Champions For Children volunteers put up a Christmas tree at the hospital.
