Authors, illustrators, poets and performers gathered at the second Cape Flats Book Festival in Mitchell’s Plain at the weekend.
They shared their love for words and expression in workshops, presentations, book stalls and discussions, at West End Primary School.
Author Zaahied Sallie, from Parow, of the The Beloved Prophet: An illustrated biography in rhyme, discussed the importance of being well read with Nicholas Williams, chairman of Read to Rise, a literacy non-profit organisation and hosts of the festival.
The festival was initiated in 2019 by Mr Williams’ brother, Westridge-raised author Athol Williams, founder of Read to Rise.
