A Kuils River woman is expected to appear in the Wellington Magistrate’s Court on Monday for a bail hearing, following a brief court appearance this week, in connection with R11 million of alleged fraud.
Jeanette van Zyl, 43, was arrested on Friday last week, according to police spokesman Captain Frederick van Wyk.
Captain Van Wyk said Ms Van Zyl had been employed by a grape farm and that during November 2021, the farm manager had informed the director of the farm of allegedly irregular transactions she had made.
An auditing firm had subsequently uncovered 400 transactions, amounting to R11 million, allegedly made from the business to Ms Van Zyl’s personal account, said Captain Van Wyk.
National Prosecuting Authority provincial spokesman Eric Ntabazalila said Ms Van Zyl had appeared in court on Monday January 16, charged with the fraud, but the case had been postponed to Monday January 23 for a bail application, which the State intended to oppose.
