Ten pupils from Soneike High School’s agricultural society are due to visit a school in Germany, in June, to start organic gardens and exchange ideas.
The Grades 10 to 12 pupils, who sell organic vegetables they grow at the school, will visit the Heinrich Heine Comprehensive School, in the German city of Aachen, according to Soneike High principal Ronel Baker.
The visit flows from a partnership forged between Cape Town and Aachen in 2021 to promote urban sustainability.
“The people who are part of this partnership in Germany, some of them are principals and teachers and so we partnered with this school,” said Ms Baker.
Pupils from Heinrich Heine Comprehensive School would, in turn, visit Soneike High next year to share agricultural skills, said Ms Baker.
Soneike High is raising funds for the trip. For more information, contact Ms Baker at Soneike.High@wcgschools.gov.za
