Two Goodwood prison warders were arrested on Monday for allegedly taking bribes from inmates, said Hawks spokesperson Zinzi Hani.

A warrant officer and a sergeant, aged 53 and 45, were arrested by the Hawks after their parade in the morning “on charges relating to corruption”, said Ms Hani.

The Hawks had been tipped off about the warders allegedly taking from inmates, she said.

“The alleged commission of crime happened between the period March 2020 to 2021. This then led to the matter being reported to the Hawks Serious Corruption Investigation team for further probing,” she said.
