Kyle Neethling recently released his EP, See You at the Top.
Goodwood rapper Kyle Neethling, also known as Wokeupblessed, has released his latest EP, See You at the Top.
Featuring four tracks, produced by Lyle OG, it is available on streaming platforms, and Kyle says it was inspired by everyone who told him he would never amount to anything.
“I wanted to show my city that we all have our challenges we face daily and regardless of where you come from or what you are going through you can reach the top."
He says his stage name was inspired by his love for music as well as the fact that he nearly took his life in 2018.
“Ever since then, I believed that every day you wake up is another blessing and opportunity for me to change my current circumstances."
He says he fell in love with music when he picked up his first instrument.
“When I was younger, I was mainly exposed to hip hop and jazz music. I think a good part of my sound is inspired by this musical background."
Although he’s currently making hip hop, he says he doesn’t feel boxed in by industry expectations to stick to a certain sound.
“I believe a big part of music involves the practical and emotional process of creating a song. I think that music should sonically appeal to the end users or at least be relative to a certain extent.
“At the end of the day, I will always make music based on the way I feel and my sound is always evolving."
He released his first EP in September last year and plans to release a debut album at the end of the year.
“It will feature 10 tracks produced by myself and many other upcoming producers, which is something I’m really excited about."
