Police are hunting a gunman who fled after a shootout with two security guards in Fisantekraal last week.
At 7am, on Tuesday May 16, a security vehicle was escorting a bread truck nearby Shiraz Ebrahim Street in Fisantekraal when it came under fire from two gunmen, and one of the guards was wounded in the shoulder, said Durbanville police spokesman Captain Marchell Rhode.
“The guards retaliated, and one of the gunmen was fatally wounded,” he said.
The other gunman escaped between the shacks in the squatter camp.
“Two 9mm firearms were recovered on the scene. A case of attempted murder, possession of ammunition cases, as well as an inquest docket, has been opened. The investigation is still ongoing,” said Captain Rhode.
The injured security guard is recovering, and his gunshot wound was not serious, according to Captain Rhode.
