Charges of rape, sexual assault and assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm were added by the State against the man accused of murdering an 8-year-old boy whose body was found in Peerless Park North last month.
We previously reported that Kraaifontein police responded to a complaint just before midnight on Thursday June 15 and found the boy’s body.
National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) spokesman Eric Ntabazalila said the boy had gone to a friend’s home for a sleepover. His body was later found in the house.
On Wednesday last week, Mr Ntabazalila said the 47-year-old accused was denied bail in the Blue Downs Magistrates Court after he was charged with the boy’s murder. The State opposed his bail application.
The accused appeared again in court on Monday, but the case was postponed to August 14 for further investigation. The man was again denied bail and remains in custody, according to Mr Ntabazalila.
