The ex-boyfriend of a 37-year-old woman whose body was found in bed with stab wounds on Sunday night has been charged with her murder, say police.
The 29-year-old man claimed he had returned home, in Leucadendron Street, after load shedding, at about 10.30pm, and had found his ex-girlfriend with stab wounds to the side of her body and left leg, said Durbanville police spokesman Captain Marchell Rhode.
“With further investigation by the detective assigned to the case, and after interviewing the boyfriend, it was discovered that he and the deceased had an argument that same night, and he stabbed his girlfriend inside their house where she died,“ he said, adding that the man had been arrested on Wednesday on a charge of murder.
According to Captain Rhode, the man appeared in Bellville Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday and was remanded in custody. The case was postponed to July 25.
