There has been a series of burglaries and remote-jamming thefts from vehicles in the Bellville area, say police.
Burglars hit three homes in Boston's Rhos Street, 11th Avenue and 13th Avenue on Thursday August 10.
“All these incidents occurred during the night while the families of these crimes were asleep. The burglars gained entry by breaking open the windows," said Bellville police spokesman Captain Aubrey Morwenyane.
The intruders took televisions, laptops and cellphones.
There was also an attempted burglary at Boston Primary School in Lincoln Street last Friday, he said.
The school did not respond by deadline to requests for comment.
Thefts from vehicles, in which thieves used remote-jamming devices, were on the rise with cases in the Bellville CBD, lower Oakdale, Boston and Tyger Valley Shopping Centre, said Captain Morwenyane.
"Motorists should double check that their vehicle is locked and they should not leave any valuable items like laptops and cellphones where criminals can see them.“
