Toy and food collection supports the needy

A Scottsville non-profit organisation held a toy and food collection for the needy in the community at the weekend.

“The event was more than a gathering — it was a celebration of compassion, unity, and the spirit of giving," said Charlene Miles, the director of NoStop.

About 100 toys, more than 70 tins of food and about 500 items of clothing had been collected, she said.

Meanwhile, at the Durbanville Rose Garden on Saturday, ward councillor Hendri Terblanche collected clothes for the homeless.

“The regular clothing drives in Ward 21 is an exciting social responsibility project, which aims to encourage residents to rummage through their closets and donate any unwanted items of clothing,” he said.
