The Fisantekraal Victim Empowerment Programme received more than 40 care packages for survivors of sexual assault earlier this month.

They contained sanitary pads, soap, toothpaste and babygrows among other items. Twenty-five of the packs came from Ward 21 councillor Hendri Terblanche and Agriculture MEC Ivan Meyer and 20 came from 2nd Chance Adopt a Family.

Danielle Cronje, a co-ordinator of the Victim Empowerment Programme, said: "As part of the 16 Days of Activism for No Violece Against Women and Children Campaign, the Fisantekraal Victim Empowerment Programme did a drive to collect items for our dignity bags.

“The items in the bag include sanitary products, roll-on, a face cloth, toothbrush and toothpaste. These bags are then handed to victims of sexual assault. Part of the items donated are baby products which we provide to safety homes when they get new babies."
