A 12-year-old Brackenfell girl has been selected for an under-13 action netball team that will represent South Africa at a tournament in New Zealand later this year.

Isabelle Greyling, a Grade 7 Bastion Primary School pupil, was chosen from a provincial under-12 team that took part in a tournament in Johannesburg in March last year.

As part of the 10-member national team, she will compete against teams from Australia and New Zealand in the Junior Indoor Netball Tri-Series in New Zealand in July, according to the South African Indoor Netball Federation.

“She works very hard, even practising netball almost every day, even on a Sunday,” said Sonja Greyling, Isabelle’s mother.

Isabelle's Western Province coach, Krynauw Krynauw, described her as a "young, versatile player".

A BackaBuddy campaign has been started to raise money for travel, accommodation, tournament fees and other costs associated with competing in the event.
