Wetlands walk

Erin Carelse|Published

A group of 227 hikers ranging in age from 8 to 80 took to hills in support of the Lower Silvermine Wetland Area. This was for the 2024 Source to Sea walk that took place on Saturday, April 20. The final donation contributions are being counted and the Friends of Silvermine Nature Area (FOSNA) hope to have achieved their target of R25 000. Proceeds go to wages for two part-time river wardens and other recurring costs, to maintain the Lower Silvermine Wetland Area for its continued ecological, educational and recreational use.

There were a number of hiking clubs participating in this event as well as members from the Joyce Chevalier Centre and Silvermine Valley community members.
