The Two Oceans German Shepherd Dog Club has called on interested dog enthusiasts to join their dog-training programme. Participants’ dogs will be trained to protect them and to compete in local, national and even international competitions, says club spokesperson Clint Dixon. The club is based at the Westcliff School of Skills in Bellville and training takes place on Wednesdays at 6pm and on Saturdays at 2pm. The chairman of the club, Ivor Erasmus, said: "A well-trained German shepherd dog is a great investment in your family as these dogs can save your life when you really need it, so we take our training very seriously as the German shepherd is a natural family protection dog.” An annual fee of R2000 is payable in affiliation with the German Shepherd Dog Federation of South Africa.
