The DA's Francois Berry is the new Ward 105 councillor after he won a by-election on Wednesday.
The ward includes Durbanville Farmlands, Fisantekraal, Joostenberg Vlakte, Vierlanden, Goedemoed, Klipheuwel and Philadelphia.
The DA won the ward with 89% of the vote, up from its 77% win in the 2021 municipal elections.
There was a 26% voter turnout, according to the Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC).
The DA, with 4225 votes, was followed by the ANC with 395 votes and the EFF with 124 votes.
“My immediate priorities include enhancing safety, improving roads, managing densification and fostering job creation. By voting for me, you are supporting the DA's history of proactive initiatives and the potential for more progress,” said 37-year-old Mr Berry, of Durbanville, who is the metro regional campaign manager for the DA.
IEC provincial head Michael Hendrickse said: “I am heartened by the fact that although we have just come out of the national and provincial elections, voters still took time to vote in the by-elections. It augurs well for the local government elections in 2026.”
