Residents of the informal settlement called Social Distance in Bloekombos, Kraaifontein, were among the communities affected by heavy rains and flooding early this month.

Community activist Linda Pito said the area was established in 2020 during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Residents built on wetland and the area gets flooded every time it rains.

Mr Pito had appealed for help as residents had been left with nowhere to go.
