Metro Police officers arrested a 47-year-old man and seized more than R30 000 in illegal alcohol products in Bellville, on Wednesday.
The officers were doing a stop-and-search operation on Charl Malan Drive when they noticed a stationary light delivery vehicle in the roadway, said Metro Police spokesperson Ruth Solomons.
“They approached the driver, and while interviewing him, noticed numerous bags in the back of the vehicle," she said.
The man was subsequently arrested for the possession of illegal alcohol and detained at the Bellville police station, she said.
On Saturday July 27, Metro Police officers arrested a 51-year-old woman in Bellville after she was allegedly found in possession of illegal alcohol valued at just over R10 000.
Meanwhile, City Law Enforcement spokesman Wayne Dyason said officers found 144 cartons of illegal cigarettes with a street value of almost R30 000 and arrested two men after they stopped a car in Bellville on Monday.
