Grade 7 pupils at Gene Louw Primary School, in Durbanville, are getting a chance, as part of an annual entrepreneurship project, to practise what they have been learning in their economic and management sciences class.
Last Friday, some of the grade had a chance to set up stalls to sell various products, and this Friday, the rest of the grade will have their turn.
The pupils have to do market research, draw up business plans and promote their products, according to school spokesperson Christine de Villiers.
“Prizes are also up for grabs for the most original product and the best-decorated stall. Once the dust settles and the takings are cashed up, they will need to submit a statement of income and expenses and pay 'tax' on their profit by the time they hand in the project at the end of August,” she said.
