MyCiTi schedule changes for festive season

The MyCiTi bus service has adapted its schedule over the festive season to accommodate for later shopping at the V&A Waterfront and Canal Walk.

Atlantis residents will also have a special service to the Silwerstroomstrand beach and resort on some weekends and public holidays from Saturday December 14 to Sunday January 5.

The buses will continue to operate from morning until evening, seven days a week with peak morning and afternoon services being less frequent from Tuesday December 17 until Sunday January 5 to align with the lower demand over this period.

Mayoral committee member for urban mobility Rob Quintas said MyCiTi passengers could enjoy doing their late-night shopping at Canal Walk knowing the last bus would only depart Canal Walk at 10.15pm.

The same applies for the V&A Waterfront from Friday December 13 with the last bus only departing from the mall at 10.15pm.

The late-night shopping services will operate as follows:

Canal Walk until Monday December 23:

• Route D08 (Dunoon - Montague Gardens - Century City) – Last bus will depart Canal Walk at 10.15pm.
• Route T03 ( Atlantic - Melkbosstrand - Table View - Century City) – Last bus will depart Canal Walk at 10.15pm.

V&A Waterfront from Friday December 13 to Monday December 30:

• Route T01 (Dunoon - Table View - Civic Centre - Waterfront) – Last bus departs Waterfront station at 10.15pm.
• Route 214a (Parklands - Table View) – Last bus departs Table View station at 11.04pm.

The Silwerstroomstrand holiday service will operate as follows:

• Route 247 (Atlantis - Silwerstroomstrand) will operate between Atlantis station and Silwerstroomstrand beach and resort serving the Arion; Charel Uys North; Montreal; Tsitsikamma; Atlantis Cemetery and Silverstream stops. The service will be available for residents to enjoy on December 14, 15, 16, 21, 22, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30 and 31 as well as from January 1 to January 5. Buses will depart from Atlantis station at 9am and 1pm and return from Silwerstroomstrand at 9.30am, 2pm and 6pm.

The following reduced weekday services will be in effect from Tuesday December 17 until Sunday January 5 due to fewer passengers travelling to work:

• Fewer buses will operate on routes T01 (Dunoon - Table View - Civic Centre - Waterfront), T02 (Civic Centre - Table View - Atlantis) , T03 ( Atlantis - Melkbosstrand - Table View), 109 (Hout Bay - Imizamo Yethu - Seapoint) , 231 (Atlantis Industria East - Atlantis and 235 (Pella - Atlantis).
• Route D05 (Dunoon - Parklands - Table View - Civic Centre) will not operate during this time.
