Two men are facing drugs charges after they were arrested with cannabis worth 400kg, say police.
This came after a minibus that rolled on the N1 in Kraaifontein just after 10pm on Sunday January 26 was found to be loaded with the drugs.
Kraaifontein police spokesperson Warrant Officer Louise Strydom confirmed that two men had been arrested.
In a statement, Titanium Armed Response said its officers had noticed two individuals running towards the Maroela Bridge.
“The armed response officers did not think much of the two individuals at the time, until they arrived on the scene,” the company said.
However, after eyewitnesses at the scene had told the officers that two occupants from the rolled minibus had fled in the same direction, they had tracked down the suspects.
“Upon arriving on scene with the suspects, it was identified that the vehicle was loaded with an estimate of 400kg of compressed cannabis,” the company said.
