Charity expands its Claremont shop
The Help the Rural Child charity has expanded its charity shop at 71 Imam Haron Road, Claremont.
The shop now uses a room next to the original premises with the permission of the landlord, says Help the Rural Child director Matthew Cheketri.
The expanded shop, with donated clothing displayed in the extension, was unveiled on Monday.
The Imam Haron Road shop opened three years ago (“New pop-up charity shop in Claremont,” Southern Suburbs Tatler, July 7, 2022).
“The landlord offered the room to us, and we jumped at the opportunity,” Mr Cheketri said. “Our customers always said the original shop was small, and they always ask for more stock, so we thought we should give our customers what they want.”
The shop supports the charity’s fund-raising efforts in aid of the Goedgedacht Trust, which helps children living in poverty in rural areas.
