SHOT DEAD: Ayesha Kelly, 10
TWO alleged Hard Livings gangsters have been sentenced to 36 years in the mang for the murder of Tafelsig meisie Ayesha Kelly.
The 10-year-old was killed on 8 December 2019 when Cameron Julies and Chadwin Williams opened fire at a tuckshop, hitting Ayesha and injuring three other children and an adult.
Julies and Williams did not act alone, as a third accused, Nathaniel Arendse, died in prison
Western Cape Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant-General Thembisile Patekile welcomed the hefty sentences imposed on Julies and Williams by the Cape Town Magistrates Court yesterday.
A police statement adds: “The investigating officers worked tirelessly in an attempt to apprehend those behind the shooting.
“Witness statements were obtained and linked Cameron Julies, Chadwwin Williams and Nathaniel Arendse to the commission of the offence. On the same evening, the three suspects were arrested and Chadwin Williams was found in possession of a firearm.
“The two suspects pleaded not guilty to all charges. On 18 September 2024, both suspects were found guilty on all charges.”
Yesterday, the two accused were sentenced at the Cape Town Magistrates Court.
They got six years for aiding and abetting criminal gang activity POCA, 25 years for murder, 10 years for each three counts of attempted murder and five years for two counts of gun-related crimes.
They will serve an effective 36 years innie tronk.
