The Paarl School Development Foundation (PSDF) secured first place in the province for their 2024 Casual Day sticker sales.
The foundation is the fund-raising arm of the Paarl School in Brackenfell for children with disabilities.
The results of the sticker sales programme were announced on Wednesday March 5.
PSDF achieved the highest sales in the Western Cape for special schools in 2024, as they sold 9 588 stickers totaling over R190 000 raised, according to the National Council of and for Persons with Disabilities (NCPD).
Casual Day sticker sales is run by the NCPD and designed to support special schools and non-profit organisations in the field of disability in raising funds for their institutions.
The manager of the programme, Louis Botha, said they provide stickers to the organisations on consignment and allow them to sell the stickers for R20 each and retain R9 from each sale for their school or NPO.
“While the sticker sales programme is not a formal competition, we do recognise and reward the top-performing NPOs and special schools in each province,” he said.
He added that the PSDF foundation also sold the most stickers during the 2023 campaign in the province, almost 9000 stickers, raising over R170 000.
PSDF spokesperson Elizbè van der Colff said Casual Day will be celebrated again on Friday September 5. “The funds raised through this initiative help (our school) purchase essential resources like school buses,” she said.
