Around 150 pupils from Hector Peterson, Masibambane and Bloekombos secondary schools participated in a peaceful march that aimed to put an end to bullying at schools, on Friday March 21, Human Rights Day. The pupils were organised by the Kraaifontein branch of the gold-youth development agency.

The Kraaifontein police station served as the meeting point for all peer educators and pupils from the participating schools. From there, the group march was escorted by two police vans to the event venue at Bloekombos Secondary School Hall.

After the march, the pupils and stakeholders gathered at the hall for the day’s programme, which featured guest speakers, poetry and music performances, and group activities focused on Human Rights Day and anti-bullying.

Pupils had an opportunity to exchange views on the issue of bullying. Key stakeholders included police, Trauma Centre, YearBeyond youth organisation and catering companies.
