AfriForum has launched its business network in Durbanville.
Business people from around 25 businesses attended the event on Friday April 11 and forged ties to boost their entities, the non-profit civil rights organisation said.
This business network aims to introduce entrepreneurs from different businesses to each other, build them up and assist them when challenges come their way.
“When entrepreneurs get to know and support each other, not only a network is built, but a strong community with a sustainable future,” says Azaan van Eeden, chairperson of AfriForum 's Durbanville business network.
The event provided local entrepreneurs with a chance to get to know a network of like-minded individuals, and exchange ideas to strengthen Afrikaans brands in the northern suburbs.
“Businesses are the heart of a community. When local businesses flourish, the entire community flourishes,” says Jurie Ferreira, AfriForum ’s district coordinator for the West Coast. “It’s inspiring to see how Afrikaans is proudly lived out as a business language.”
AfriForum's Durbanville Business Network will celebrate Afrikaans as a 100-year-old language at its next event on Wednesday May 21, as well as present the Tinteltong Awards, which are given to businesses and individuals who contribute to the promotion and creativity of the Afrikaans language.
The business network has invited people to nominate exceptional businesses for the awards.
