The City has advised residents of roadworks along Voortrekker and Botfontein Roads in Eikendal and Wallacedene.

The resurfacing and general road maintenance started on Tuesday, June 17 along Voortrekker Road, from Fairfield Road to Botfontein Road in Eikendal.

“The works will include isolated relaying of kerbs and channels to restore proper drainage and structure along the road edges. This work is part of the City’s regular maintenance to prolong the longevity of our road network and to keep Cape Town moving,” said Roberto Quintas, mayoral committee member for urban mobility.

He added that the project will conclude with the repainting of all road markings and that road users can anticipate some night work towards the end of August at the intersection of Voortrekker and Botfontein Roads.

At the Botfontein Road, between Voortrekker Road and Maroela Road, in Wallacedene, the City also began road resurfacing on Tuesday, June 17.

“The work will include the installation of two short sections of stormwater infrastructure, including manholes and new kerb inlets at the lowest point of the road to improve drainage.

“Isolated relaying of kerbs and channels will also be undertaken to restore proper water flow and structural integrity,” said Mr Quintas.

He said additional works include the re-gravelling of access to the electricity substation, as well as the reinstatement of traffic loops, scoots and magnetometers.

Roadwork hours will be from 9am until 3:30pm from Sunday until Friday in both projects and they are scheduled to finish on Friday September 19, provided there are no unforeseen delays.
