Help The Rural Child Charity (HTRC) is set to open a new charity shop at Okavango Junction in Brackenfell on Monday, September 1.
Shoppers can look forward to a collection of clothing for men, women, and children, shoes, accessories, books, household items, toys, puzzles, and appliances.
Every item purchased helps fund the work of the Goedgedacht Trust Path Onto Prosperity (POP) Centres, which provide critical support for vulnerable children in rural communities, HTRC said in a statement.
These centres offer nutritious meals, homework assistance, sports, and holiday programmes among other services.
“Every purchase made in our shops is more than just a great find — it’s a direct contribution to creating a brighter future for children who need it most,” said Matthew Cheketri, chief executive officer at HTRC. “By opening in Brackenfell, we are making it easier for the local community to shop sustainably, donate preloved goods, and play a part in transforming lives.”
“Donations are always welcome; they truly are the lifeblood of our shops,” said Nicky Antonie, HTRC founder, urging the northern suburbs community to donate their unwanted clothing, books, and household goods.
The first 20 customers on opening day will receive a surprise gift.
The new shop will be at Okavango Junction, Unit K16, and operates from 9am until 5pm on weekdays, and from 9am to 1pm on Saturdays.
