Kraaifontein police are investigating three double murders that happened in separate shooting incidents on Tuesday, September 9.
Police said they responded to a shooting incident at about 11:30 pm and found two women, aged 19 and 25, who had been shot dead in Molefe Street, Wallacedene. A third 24-year-old man was shot and injured.
The two victims were declared deceased on the scene by medical personnel, while the third victim was taken to the hospital for treatment.
Ten minutes later, police members responded to a complaint of a shooting at Taleman Street in Wallacedene, and upon their arrival at the scene, they found two females in their 20s inside a bedroom with gunshot wounds to their heads.
“Both victims were declared deceased on the scene by medical personnel,” said police spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg, and added that the possibility that these incidents are interlinked is not ruled out.
In an unrelated shooting incident, also on Tuesday, September 9, at about 9.50pm, police members responded to a complaint of a shooting on the corner of 9th Avenue and Verster Street, Eikendal, where they found the bodies of two men aged 20 and 22 who had sustained gunshot wounds.
“Both victims were declared deceased on the scene by medical personnel. The suspects fled the scene and are yet to be arrested,” Sergeant Twigg said.
The motives for these attacks form part of the police investigation.
Kraaifontein Community Police Forum (CPF) chairperson, Mawethu Sila, said these were unfortunate incidents and encouraged residents to come forward with information that will lead to arrests.
