Western Cape police are investigating three counts of murder, an attempted murder, and rape following three separate shooting incidents that occurred in Wallacedene, Kraaifontein, in the early hours of Sunday, September 14.

Police said a 35-year-old man was shot and killed in the Mhongqo informal settlement at about 1am.

In another incident, a man was shot and wounded, and his companion, a woman, was raped between 2am and 3am, a few metres away from the first scene.

At around 3.14am, two men, estimated to be between the ages of 25 and 30, were also shot and killed not far from the two previous scenes, police said.

The motive for the shooting incidents is the subject of the investigations and police said two suspects were being questioned.

“The suspects aged 25 and 26 from Kraaifontein have not been charged yet. However, the investigators are hard at work pursuing specific leads that relate to the shooting incidents,” said police spokesperson Brigadier Novela Potelwa.

These incidents follow the shooting of seven people in separate incidents, resulting in six deaths in Kraaifontein on Tuesday, September 9.

On Wednesday, September 10, three men accused of criminal activity were killed in a vigilante-style attack and set alight by community members at Laboheme Street, in Wallacedene.
