Chantelle Carstens, a teacher at Paarl School for pupils with disabilities in Brackenfell, won the national Excellence in Special Needs Teaching Award.
She received this national recognition when the Department of Basic Education (DBE) announced the winners of the 25th annual national teaching awards in Gauteng on Thursday, October 9.
This came only two months after Ms Carstens won the provincial award in the same category ("Brackenfell teacher recognised for excellence in special needs teaching," August 19).
The 2025 edition of these national awards took place under the theme “Empowering Educators, Strengthening Resilience, Building Sustainability.”
