Badisa Tygerberg has confirmed that its offices were broken into earlier this month, with seven laptops stolen during the incident.

The child protection organisation said the laptops are essential tools used by social workers to write reports, keep case files up to date, and apply for placements for children in need. The theft is expected to impact daily operations, although the organisation says services to vulnerable children and families will continue.

Despite the setback, Badisa Tygerberg said its staff remain committed to supporting the communities they serve.

Police spokesperson, Captain F.C Van Wyk, said: "A housebreaking case docket was opened on 6 January 2026 after the premises were locked on the previous Friday, after work. Seven laptops were taken. Investigation is continuing; no arrest as yet."
