The NoStop non-profit organisation received a donation of computer equipment aimed at strengthening digital skills training in Kraaifontein during a handover event at AME Primary School on Tuesday, February 3.

The donation, made by the software company as part of its corporate social investment (CSI) initiatives, included 16 laptops with keyboards and mouses, projectors, power supplies, and an interactive smart projector board.

Corné Swart, the company's senior people partner, said they were committed to giving back to communities by supporting initiatives that empower people through technology.

“We are here in partnership with NoStop as part of our CSI initiatives, where we aim to enable and empower communities with what they need, particularly from a technology perspective. This is a long-standing partnership that we are growing, and we are proud to be part of a company that cares and believes in giving back,” he said.

NoStop launched a free computer course in May 2023, where participants learn basic computer skills and how to create and update CVs. The course is aimed primarily at unemployed youth, but is open to anyone.

Kraaifontein AME Primary School principal Douglas Oormeyer welcomed the donation and acknowledged the positive impact of NoStop’s ongoing programmes at the school.

“We are fortunate to have partnered with Charlene Miles and the NoStop organisation over the past few years. The programmes implemented at our school benefit our learners, and today marks another milestone. We are happy to share our facilities with NoStop to implement programmes that will benefit not only the school, but the wider community."

Young pupils at the primary school have benefited from a programme, called the Light Up! Design Thinking Exhibition, run by this non-profit organisation.

NoStop founder and executive director Charlene Miles said the latest donation of equipment would allow the organisation to expand its digital training within the community, starting at Kraaifontein AME Primary School.

“These laptops, the smartboard and other tools will allow us to train more people. We believe digital skills are essential, and we are taking the training directly to the schools, starting here at AME,” she said.

She thanked the software company for believing in the organisation and supporting its growth and development programmes.

NoStop also runs a soup kitchen and offers music lessons and other after-school programmes, along with mentoring and counselling, from its office in Scottsville, which is open on weekdays until 4pm.
