A section of Sandalwood Road in Kuils River has been closed since Monday, February 2, to allow for major road infrastructure upgrades, says the City.
The closure affects Sandalwood Road between Peperboom Street and Saxdowns Road and will remain in place until May 30. The work includes the dualling of the Saxdowns Road and Sandalwood Road intersection, as well as the construction of a new eastern link between Boschendal Road and the Haasendal development.
The City said traffic accommodation measures will remain in place to allow through-traffic between Bottelary Road and Langverwacht Road during construction. Access to Sandalwood Road will continue via Church Street and Amandel Road, with detour signage installed in the area.
Roadworks will be carried out from 7am to 5pm, Monday to Saturday, weather permitting.
Construction areas will be clearly demarcated to manage traffic flow and ensure the safety of road users.
Motorists should expect delays during working hours and are advised to plan ahead and use alternative routes.
" The City continues to invest in critical road upgrades and carefully planned alternative routes. Construction can be disruptive and I would like to thank residents and road users for their patience during this period," said Roberto Quintas, mayoral committee member for urban mobility.
