17-year-old arrested for unlicensed firearm possession in Ravensmead

A 17-year-old boy is expected to appear in the Goodwood Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, February 12, after police allegedly found him in possession of a prohibited firearm and ammunition in Ravensmead.

A 17-year-old boy is expected to appear in the Goodwood Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, February 12, after police allegedly found him in possession of a prohibited firearm and ammunition in Ravensmead.

Police spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg said members of the Ravensmead Crime Prevention Unit acted on information about a black Suzuki parked in 42nd Street, Eureka Estate, where the occupant was reportedly in possession of a firearm.

"A search of the vehicle and the occupant was conducted by the police members, and a 9mm pistol without a serial number and 18 rounds of ammunition were found inside the vehicle."

The suspect was arrested on charges of possession of a prohibited firearm and ammunition, according to Sergeant Twigg.
