The City of Cape Town’s Bellville motor vehicle registration and licensing (MVRL) office in Reed Street will close for approximately six weeks from Monday, February 16, to allow for maintenance and upgrades.

Residents who require motor vehicle licensing services during this period are encouraged to make use of nearby offices or the City’s online booking and payment options.

The City’s mayoral committee member for finance, Siseko Mbandezi, said the temporary closure is necessary to carry out critical repairs.

“We thank our residents for their patience during this time while we conduct necessary critical repairs and upgrades. We encourage residents to visit another office in the vicinity or to make use of our various online options. The City regrets any inconvenience caused,” he said.

Alternative offices include the Parow Municipality office on Voortrekker Road and the Goodwood MVRL office in Hugo Street.

Residents can also renew vehicle licences and make payments via the City’s website. Municipal accounts can be settled online through the City’s eServices portal, by scanning the QR code on account statements, or via EFT.

In addition, payments can be made at selected retail outlets, including Shoprite, Checkers, USave, Pick n Pay, PEP, Ackermans, Lewis, Top It Up, Woolworths, selected Spar stores and Nedbank branches.

The Brackenfell Vehicle Licence Renewal drive-through will also be affected by the closure. The drive-through operates from 10am to 6pm on weekdays and from 9am to 2pm on Saturdays. Only card payments are accepted at the Brackenfell facility.

The City has urged residents to plan and make use of the available alternatives during the closure period.
