Brackenfell police arrested two men on Monday and Tuesday last week after the Spur in Brackenfell was robbed on Sunday night, December 4.
Two men entered the restaurant in Old Paarl Road, at about 9pm, and asked for a table.
Brackenfell police spokeswoman Colonel Erica Crous, said one of men had pulled out a gun and pointed it at the manager, demanding the money in the cash register and safe.
He hit her over the head with the gun when she hesitated.
The robbers met an accomplice at the entrance of the restaurant and then left on foot with cash and liquor.
Colonel Crous said no shots were fired and nobody was injured.
Video footage led to the arrest of a 35-year-old Eerste River man and the seizure of cash, a gun and a silver Golf. Police also arrested a 30-year oldKhayelitsha man.
Both men appeared in Blue Downs court on Wednesday December 7.
There has been a spate of robberies at fast-food outlets and restaurants in recent weeks, including one at a Goodwood KFC and another at the KFC in Parow. Police are investigating a possible link between those two robberies.
The police have warned that robberies at restaurant and fast-food outlets are common at this time of year and have warned patrons to be vigilant. (See pages 1 and 3)
