* Goodwood police and the City of Cape Town’s law enforcement conducted an operation under the Monte Vista bridge, in Goodwood, on Friday April 15. Residents have complained about homeless people who moved in under the bridge, fearing the camp will attract crime to the area (“Homeless camp a bridge too far”, Northern News, April 13). Goodwood police spokesman Lieutenant Waynne Theunis confirmed that cops and Law Enforcement removed homeless people living there. Lieutenant Theunis previously told Northern News that they could not link crimes in that vicinity to homeless people living there, but said they have had cases of criminals using the homeless and the camp as a cover.
