The Parow train station reopened on Tuesday following vandalism to the station and line during lockdown.
The Cape Town to Bellville train service will end at Parow station, said Metrorail spokeswoman Zino Mihi.
The service was suspended at the start of the Covid-19 lockdown in March 2020 and its resumption was delayed by vandalism.
The station had been refurbished and was now functional, said Ms Mihi
The Bellville to Eerste River service was reopened on Monday January 16.
Before it closed, the Parow station had high volumes of commuters due to its proximity to industrial areas, high schools, tertiary institution, health facilities and and shopping centres.
“This great achievement is part of Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa’s recovery of the train service in all corridors,” Ms Mihi said.
The service will only be available during the week for now.
