Residents of Bloekoembos, Wallacedene, Eikendal and Peerless Park are encouraged to reduce water usage as the City is experiencing low reservoir levels in the northern suburbs, according to Siseko Mbandezi, acting mayoral committee member for water and sanitation.
The reservoirs supplying the areas are operating under severe strain, he said.
“The challenge is that reservoirs are not able to fill up fast enough because of the prolonged period of load-shedding while residents are also using lots of water at the same time.
“The hot weather over the last few days and continuing over the weekend also influences the current scenario, but it is our urgent request that consumers in these areas seriously adhere to the City’s request to significantly reduce their water consumption or run the risk of having no water.
“They can do this by immediately cutting down on their usage of water for non-essential water-related activities.”
