Community Keepers, a non-profit organisation, has opened a second counselling room and office in Kraaifontein.
We previously reported that the NPO provides counselling support to school pupils struggling with depression and anxiety (“NPO opens counselling room at Kraaifontein school,” November 7, 2022).
The organisation held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the room at Petunia Primary School in Scottsville on Thursday last week.
"We believe that if you want to improve the world, we need to start by making people feel safer. This is what drives us to create safe spaces where learners and teachers can be heard, without judgement and without interruption," said Gerrit Laning, the chief executive of the organisation.
Petunia Primary School principal Faizal Yon thanked the organisation.
“We now have a direct line to whom we can refer the learners, right here at our school. Learners will receive the immediate attention they deserve. They are not here for the learners only but also for the educators and non-educators at the school,” he said.
