UWC’s Centre for Entrepreneurship and Innovation (CEI) has a new training centre that will aid the teaching of digital skills to youth and entrepreneurs, says university spokesperson Harriet Box.
The centre is at the UWC Innovation Hub, in Oostersee, Parow, and, according to CEI director Abraham Oliver, it will be somewhere that entrepreneurs can network and get mentoring support.
“We have a database of seasoned coaches and mentors who will be on standby to benchmark the community entrepreneurs’ current reality to plot an action plan towards their desired future,” he said.
The university already had such a centre at its main campus but had decided to open a second one to make its services more accessible.
“The move is an expansion of the CEI to provide a delivery site to also strengthen our resolve to influence UWC graduates to embrace an entrepreneurial mindset that will be followed throughout their careers and into their communities,” Mr Olivier said.
Ms Box said there were plans to have monthly social coffee clubs to connect aspiring and seasoned entrepreneurs.
