Bellville library resumes normal operations

Normal operations have resumed at Bellville library.

This came after the City announced in January that the library was to offer limited services after the heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning system  (HVAC) suffered irreparable damage from vandalism over a period of time.

The limited services were offered from Monday February 3 until Monday March 3, while urgent ventilation issues were being addressed.

The City said, on Thursday, that the work to repair the system is still under way, but the weather has cooled down, which means that the facility is now able to maintain required indoor air quality standards.

“The contractors will remain on site for a while still, but conditions have improved to the point that we can throw open the doors to the public at large, and resume business as usual,” said Francine Higham, mayoral committee member for community services and health.

The library is now open to the public from 9am until 6pm from Monday to Thursday, 9am until 5pm on Fridays and 9am until 1pm Saturdays.
