Police are investigating a case of murder and three attempted murders after alleged underworld figure Andre Naude was shot dead in Parow.
Reports indicated that a vehicle pulled up on Voortrekker Road next to Mr Naude, who was in the company of friends, and the occupants of the vehicle fired several shots shortly before 3pm on Thursday, June 12.
“As a consequence, a 55-year-old man was killed and a 61-year-old wounded. Two other males aged 45 and 54 escaped injury,” said provincial police spokesperson Captain FC Van Wyk.
IOL reported that Mr Naude’s bodyguard was injured in the shooting.
Mr Naude was on trial for the murder of "steroid king" Brian Wainstein, along with alleged underworld figures Jerome "Donkie" Booysen, and Mark Lifman, who was shot dead in George in November last year.
Booysen was seen at the scene of the shooting as Mr Naude’s body lay next to his double-cab bakkie, while crime scene experts and Anti-Gang Unit detectives were combing the scene.
No arrests have been made yet.
