Roadworks on Van Riebeeck Street in Belmont Park, Kraaifontein, are expected to be completed by the end of September, the City said.
The project will include repairing damaged kerbs and stormwater channels, raising of road levels within the bell mouth of 5th Avenue and potentially 6th Avenue, removing the existing asphalt surfacing and replacing it with hot-mix asphalt, repairing isolated sections of sidewalk surfacing and the installation of new joints on the road-over-rail bridge.
The work started on Friday, June 20, and will take place between Sunday and Friday from 9am to 3:30pm.
Required nightwork will take place between 7pm and 04:30am.
“This forms part of vital maintenance to prolong the longevity of the city’s road network. Residents and business owners are advised to anticipate some noise during these working hours. However, no work has been planned for Saturdays,’’ said Roberto Quintas, the mayoral committee member for urban mobility.
